What is Purisol process?
What is Purisol process?
Process description. Purisol process uses N-Methyl-2-Pyrrolidone (NMP) as solvent. This process is particularly adapted for syngas purification at high pressure and high content of CO2 for turbines of Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) due to its high selectivity with respect to H2S.
What is depg solvent?
DEPG is a mixture of dimethyl ethers of polyethylene glycol (CH3O(C2H4O)nCH3 (n is. between 2 and 9) used to physically absorb H2S, CO2, and mercaptans from gas streams. Solvents. containing DEPG are licensed and/or manufactured by several companies including Coastal Chemical.
Why do we use rectisol process?
Rectisol is used most often to treat synthesis gas (primarily hydrogen and carbon monoxide) produced by gasification of coal or heavy hydrocarbons, as the methanol solvent is well able to remove trace contaminants such as ammonia, mercury, and hydrogen cyanide usually found in these gases.
What is a Rectisol process?
RECTISOL® is a physical acid gas removal process using an organic solvent (typically methanol) at subzero temperatures. RECTISOL® is therefore frequently used to purify shifted, partially shifted or unshifted gas downstream residue oil-, coal- or lignite gasification.
What is Benfield solution?
The Benfield process can be tailored for either bulk or trace acid gas removal in natural gas treating to achieve pipeline specifications. It is a thermally-regenerated, cyclical solvent process that uses an activated, inhibited hot potassium carbonate solution to remove CO2, H2S and other acid gas components.
What is used for syngas purification?
Rectisol™ is a physical washing process and involves the use of a solvent to remove acid gases from raw syngas.
What is Selexol process technology?
The Selexol process technology utilize dimethyl ether of polyethylene glycol innovated by Union Carbide as a physical absorbent. The solvent can be used to remove carbon dioxide and sulfur compounds along with water and aromatic compounds. Before gas enters the Selexol unit, it is obligatory that feed gas be dehydrated for water removal.
How do you desorption Selexol?
Desorption of the rich Selexol solvent can be accomplished either thermally, by flashing, or by stripping gas. Selective H 2 S removal with deep CO 2 removal usually requires a two-stage process with two absorption and regeneration columns.
What is the composition of Selexol gas?
Selexol process A feed gas at a flow rate of 200 MMSCFD, 421 psia and 81 °F with the following composition (mol%): H 2 S = 1.7%, CO 2 = 10%, is introduced to a Selexol process to treat the gas to reach 40 ppm H 2 S. Calculate the percentage recovery of sulphur. Amount of H 2 S in the inlet gas = (200 × 10 6 /379/24) (0.017) = 373.8 lbmol/h,
Is there a flow sheet for Selexol?
The Selexol process was first commercially used in the late 1960s. The technology is currently owned and licensed by Dow, with commercial packages available from a variety of companies, including UOP, Udhe, and Coastal. There is no universal or standard flow sheet for DEPG units.
