I submit there is just one, the Thompson/Center (T/C) Contender. During the past half-century, this firearm has progressed from Contender to Encore to G2 Contender. It’s still faithful to Warren Center’s design and is still offered in a myriad of variations with almost innumerable interchangeable barrels.
Are Contender and Encore barrels interchangeable?
Blued or stainless barrels are readily interchangeable. removing the forend, tipping the barrel open and tapping out the hinge pin. All Contender® barrels will fit; blued and stainless barrels are interchangeable.

How do I change the barrel on the G2 Contender?
Barrels for the G2 Contender can be changed in only seconds by removing the forend and tapping out the barrel/frame hinge pin. By simply pulling up and back on the trigger guard spur you can open the G2 Contender action to load and unload the chamber.
What is the muzzle diameter of a contender carbine?
The original Contender carbine barrel’s muzzle diameter can be matched on your new custom barrel upon request. Other common tapers will feature muzzle diameters of .750″ to .500″ (in .050″ increments), though this is dependent upon the barrel’s bore dimension.
