The Sony A7 II has been superseded by the newer Sony A7 III, but Sony’s policy of keeping older models on sale means you can now get it at seriously low prices. This full frame mirrorless camera might not have Sony’s very latest tech, but it’s still versatile, competent and powerful – and amazing value for money.

Is it worth buying Sony a7 II in 2021?
It has 693 focus points, shoots 4K video, and has a burst mode of 10 frames per second. Buying an a7II on sale or used is an inexpensive way of getting a good full-frame, mirrorless camera. Quality E-mount lenses are worth the investment as they will transfer as you upgrade to newer Sony bodies.
How old is Sony A7?
The Sony A7 was launched back in late 2013, as the world’s first compact system camera with a full-frame sensor. Sony launched the 36MP A7R at the same time, but that model is no longer widely available, where the Sony A7 most definitely is.
Is Sony A7 4K?
It has full-sensor readout and can shoot 4K video at up to 120p or full HD footage at up to 240p, with full-sensor readout no pixel-binning and with the hybrid autofocus system in action. There’s also 10-bit colour depth and 4:2:2 colour sampling available in all recording formats.
Why is the Sony A7II so expensive?
Mainly because they won’t sell as many so they need to recoup more of their investment with each unit sale. The device itself is probably no harder to make than cheaper models.
Is Sony A7 good for pictures?
Sony introduced its first two full-frame mirrorless cameras, the Alpha a7 and a7R, to overwhelmingly positive reviews late last year. Most importantly, both cameras take extraordinary photographs, 1080p AVCHD video, and are winning concepts in their own right.

Sony continues to produce the first generation models α7 and α7S, even three years after the launch, only the α7 has been discontinued in April 2019.
