Is Cobham Park open?

Stroll around the Serpentine Lake, wander through woodland and discover the dramatically placed garden buildings. Designed by Charles Hamilton, after he was inspired by Renaissance landscape paintings, Painshill is a ‘living canvas’. The 158 acre masterpiece has something for everyone.

What is there to do at Painshill Park?

For families there is a natural play area and wildlife spotting trails as well as wildflower meadows in which to run around in and get back to nature. Dogs are very welcome, on short leads. You can enjoy a walk for 2 – 3 hours at Painshill or there are shorter accessible routes.

There is an accessible route around Painshill that allows the visitor to see many features of the landscape. There are areas to the west however that are grassy or include steep slopes. The Visitor Centre, Tea Room and toilets are accessible.

Painshill (also referred to as “Pains Hill” in some 19th-century texts), near Cobham, Surrey, England, is one of the finest remaining examples of an 18th-century English landscape park. It was designed and created between 1738 and 1773 by Charles Hamilton.
