Is fluticasone salmeterol the same as SERETIDE?
SERETIDE contains two medicines, fluticasone propionate and salmeterol xinafoate. Fluticasone propionate belongs to a group of medicines known as corticosteroids, frequently called ‘steroids’. They are not ‘anabolic steroids’ which are the steroids sometimes misused by athletes.

Fluticasone and salmeterol is a combination of two medicines that are used to help control the symptoms of asthma and improve breathing.
What is the drug SERETIDE used for?
SERETIDE is used to help with asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in people who need regular treatment. Asthma is a condition affecting the lungs. Symptoms of asthma include shortness of breath, wheezing, chest tightness and cough.
Is fluticasone a SERETIDE?
As Seretide contains salmeterol and fluticasone propionate, the type and severity of adverse reactions associated with each of the compounds may be expected. There is no incidence of additional adverse events following concurrent administration of the two compounds.

What are the side effects of Seretide inhaler?
Common side effects occurring in more than 1% of patients prescribed Seretide accuhaler include:
- Hoarseness.
- Headache.
- Soreness of the throat or tongue.
- Muscle cramps.
- Increase in heart rate.
Can fluticasone cause seizures?
Warnings for people with certain health conditions For people with seizures: This drug may cause seizures. Let your doctor know if you have a seizure disorder. For people with thyroid problems: Thyroid problems may make your body process this drug differently. Your doctor may need to change your dosage.

What happens if you stop taking Seretide?
Do not stop or suddenly reduce your dose of Seretide. This could make your breathing worse. In addition, if you suddenly stop taking Seretide or reduce your dose of Seretide this may (very rarely) cause you to have problems with your adrenal gland (adrenal insufficiency) which sometimes causes side effects.
