This hardly seems safe. There are reports of the ‘Peacock Stirrup’ not releasing. Further, falling riders have been caught by the protrusion of the open edge of the stirrup during a fall and when dismounting. The resultant exposed ‘open hook’ can catch a rider’s pants, belt, clothing or helmet strap.

Should I buy safety stirrups?
Safety stirrups are stirrups that help release your foot faster in case of an accident – sometimes referred to as quick release stirrups. Are magnetic stirrups safe?
These stirrups were so interesting to test and I enjoyed riding in them. The magnets worked really well and were more powerful than I expected. They really keep your foot in place and if you lift your foot the stirrup comes too. They are, however, perfectly safe and would definitely detach easily if you fell off.
Are safety stirrups safe?
Although designed to prevent dragging after a fall, Safety Stirrups with Hooks and Rubber Bands are simply not safe for general use. Riders do not fall off every time they ride, but do dismount every time they ride and dismounting over a safety stirrup creates a risk of injury each time.
